Summary: Temperley London is known for telling a story through their collections, and this season was no exception. After last year's scintillating circus theme, it was exciting to see what Alice Temperley would be serving up for us next. Giving new meaning to the term "retro-inspired", Temperley flirted with time periods from as recently as the 1970s to as far back as the days of King Arthur's court. A consistent juxtaposition of delicate and tough wove its way through the collection, manifesting in frothy tiers of a gown or a chain mail waistcoat akin to medieval armor. Other high drama pieces channeled silver screen sirens from the glamorous 30s. Voluminous hats dipped down over figures sheathed in bold animal prints and elegant draping. Yet despite all the cues taken from the past, the collection managed to maintain its appeal as current, proving once again that Temperley is adept at creating pieces that are undeniably artful yet wearable as well.
