For a few months we've seen ads with a heavily made-up, bleach blonde teen looking like Madonna's 80's persona resurrected into the 21st century. Luckily for the us, now we can all start looking like the queen of pop because Madonna, as many stars before her, has started a fashion line.
Material Girl is designed by Madonna and her fashion driven daughter Lola. Hosted exclusively at Macy's, this line is not for the fashion shy. Flannel, lace, corsets, and crinoline make up this heavily eighties inspired line modeled by the rebel force Taylor Momsen.
So is this a line wearable by anyone out of their teenage-angst driven years? Looking at the ad campaign, I'd say no. Outfits of corsets under leather jackets with crinoline skirts on raccoon-eyed Taylor Momsen is enough to scare any sensible woman away. If you are brave though, browse through the individual pieces either at Macy's or online. Separate, the jackets, sweaters, and skirts are completely wearable mixed in with your own basics.
The eighties trends have been fading in and out for years. Why not invest in a couple pieces from this line that can still be worn once this fad is said and done? We all still want to be Madonna at heart and this way we don't have to subject ourselves to cone bras.
