Chicago and London have a lot of similarities…world class architecture, amazing local culture, and a vibrant, creative fashion scene and now that Karen Millen has opened in the 900 building, the two cities have one more thing in common. The opening featured hair and makeup by Mario Tricoci, tunes by local DJ Shannon Sangster, and cupcakes and champagne (of course!).
Creative director Gemma Metheringham was on hand to walk me through the collections, pointing out strong military inspired tailoring, intricately draped dresses, and versatile two-toned neutral handbags. Other highlights included a capelet that blends minimalism with a vintage feel and intricately draped cocktail dresses in black and blush tones.
The is the first Midwest store for the British brand, and with their beautifully structured dresses and jackets, plush wool coats and some seriously rockin' boots, I think it will be a smashing success.
