The Italian fashion guru's luggage was lost by US Airways on a flight from Madrid to Philadelphia this past Monday. The Gucci bags apparently contained over $50,000 worth of vintage Gucci bags, including one custom-made by his grandfather, the founder of Gucci, for his grandmother. There were also custom-made clothing and hundreds of family photos that were going to be used in an upcoming documentary on his life, according to a NY Post source.
Gucci had to attend Capitol Hill for a speech against counterfeit goods yesterday. Gucci is hoping to get his bags returned before he hosts the launch of his Giorgio G. Cognac at the Pierre next Wednesday. US Airways said: "We are investigating and working with him to get the items returned."
