Last week I booked a sitter and ventured out to attend the Juicy Couture Holiday Handbag Soiree at their showroom in Times Square. I needed a little 'me' time, you know, to check out handbags, drink some wine and hang out with some adults! To me, that's the perfect evening.
As soon as I walked through the door I checked out the new collection of handbags for the holidays by Juicy Couture handbag designer, Kirsten Schwinn. One popped out as my favorite immediately, but I had to first sit with astrologer Karen Thorne to see which type of bag fit my reading best. Hey…it's okay to have a little baggage, right?
I won't get into details, but in a nutshell Karen told me not only am I on the path for health, wealth, happiness and infamy (heck if even half is correct, I'll take it) the bag I gravitated towards was the right one for me! Good thing to know I get myself!
Which bag was that, you ask? A purple luxe chiffon bag. It's perfect for me because it opens wide (which was confirmed I need) and a little over the top. I can't have a tight little bag where I fumble for eveything. However, the Juicy Couture Holiday 2010 handbag collection offers something for every woman this season. The feminine, textured collection strikes a delicate balance between whimsical and polished, creating forward-thinking pieces without abandoning Juicy’s roots.
The Lena soft leather tote with gold chains and understated embossed logo makes the perfect everyday bag. A bit more on the festive side are a series of black wool day bags embellished with a smattering of pleated silk bows appliquéd in overlapping layers. Silver chains finish the bag’s simple silhouettes — the Sarah hobo, Georgiana satchel and structured Monroe — all of which will take you from day to night without a hitch.
The Juicy Couture holiday 2010 Gifting Bow Capsule covers it all. Plush self-tied bows take shape in crushed velvet clutches and chic chain-strapped cross bodies in lame-coated and foil dotted suede. The pouchette chiffon with a gold chain offers elegance without a hint of seriousness. And, if you’re going for unforgettable, the Luxe Day Dreamer in black chiffon, or the full on surface gold sequin clutch are the way to go.
In a nod to Juicy heritage, the iconic Day Dreamer gets a facelift in heavy quilted leopard with luggage handle detailing, while the rugby stripe totes takes a heavy dose of sequins and velour. Grosgrain detailing and clever sayings like “more is more” enliven classic day totes.
