It was seriously "Handbag Heaven" at Neiman Marcus on Michigan Avenue on Friday, October 15. The creative designers from several well-known handbag collections showed up to meet and greet shoppers, while introducing their line's 2010 Holiday collection and giving a few helpful hints on how to style them in the upcoming season.
Everyone knows the name Botkier. Though the company has only been around for a few years, Monica Botkier can be accredited for changing the industry by creating the iconic Trigger handbag in 2003. Monica was on hand to talk about some of the current Fall purses, as well as the upcoming holiday resort handbags.
This season, get ready to see a whole season of funky brights from Botkier. From yellow and green python prints and metal chains woven into the leather straps, to cobalt blue leather with pin-tucking details (which was my absolute FAV!), you can expect to see a new take on "innovative". There was even a purse that looked like perforated leather from a distance but upon closer inspection, was actually leather sewed evenly across! "Our purses have always been pretty sexy, a little edgy," Monica said. "Though they can still go from the office to a night out on the town."
"The treated leather makes each piece that much more luxurious. You just can't get this kind of effect if you over-treat [the leather] with chemicals," Monica explained while showing the special iridescent green and chocolate brown accent of one of the newest additions, "Metallic Mermaid".
Be sure to keep an eye out for the Kasper hobo bag, which has already been seem on actress Megan Fox. It might just be the new "It" bag of the season, not that Botkier isn't used to that feeling already.
