Beauty Buzz. Seduced by GUESS Seductive

Guess-seductive Smells like teen spirit? Or so I would have thought. I had written off GUESS many moons ago as a brand I'm just too old for. Yet, when it comes to fragrance I am willing to keep an open mind.

GUESS Seductive just launched this month in the U.S., and the company has high hopes for its first scent to come out of its new license with manufacturer Coty, Inc. The perfume itself was designed to embody the experience of seduction, which their advertising has always been known for.

"GUESS is thrilled to be unveiling our newest scent, Seductive, in partnership with Coty," says Paul Marciano, Chief Executive Officer and Creative Director of GUESS, Inc. "Coty is a leader in the beauty and fragrance industry and we feel confident and proud to have worked so closely with them on the launch of Seductive."

Created by perfumer Veronique Nyberg, GUESS Seductive is meant to embody coquettish charm with a daring edge. Nyberg envisioned an irresistable scent that exudes temptation and flirtation drawing in those around the woman who wear it. This fatal floral attraction is a floriental woody fragrance that I hate to admit, drew me in as well.

The top notes of bergamot, blackcurrant and crispy pear are indeed bold. The middle notes are more feminine and include, jasmine, orange flower and Florentine Orris – a historic note harvested in Florence and used in perfumery for centuries. The base notes are vanilla, spicy olibanum and a musky cashmere wood.

The bottle is not suprisingly shaped like the GUESS logo with an embossed crocodile print panel that reflects the company's signature animal prints and retro glamour.

The GUESS Seductive campaign was shot by renowned photographer Vincent Peters and features the newest GUESS girl, model Alyssa Miller (who can been seen fin the video below) in a black-and-white ad set in Rome that portrays a sexy, retro Italian film encounter.

So do I like the scent? As intended it has drawn me in and I can't explain why I like it so much, I just do. I like a musky floral and one that doesn't smell like every other scent on the market. This one is very different. It's a little heavy so use a light spray and like me, you will be intoxicated. I have been wearing it ever since I received the sample. Now that says something.

GUESS Seductive is available in three sizes: $40 for 30ml, $52 for 50ml and $62 for 75ml. A 200ml body cream is also available for $28.
