Ever wanted a scent that matched the sass and sexiness of your favorite stilettos? Well you may just get your chance with the premiere fragrance unveiled by shoe guru Jimmy Choo. Founder and chief creative officer of the label, Tamara Mellon, formally introduced the label’s first scent — called Jimmy Choo — with a presentation to editors in London on Friday.
When asked about the jump from footwear into fragrance, Mellon said simply, “It was really the next natural step. I’d wanted to do fragrance from the beginning of Jimmy Choo. I want to accessorize a woman completely and fragrance is something a woman wears every day — it goes on her skin.”
Mellon herself designed the fragrance’s delicately textured bottle, which she said was inspired by Murano glass. “I wanted something you would be proud to have on your dressing table,” she said. And it’s also Mellon’s image that appears in the ad campaign, shot by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
As for the fragrance? WWD broke the scent down as "a modern, fruity chypre with green top notes, along with notes of exotic tiger orchid, sweet toffee and Indonesian patchouli". Mellon's words were "feminine yet empowering, with a lot of sensuality to it.” So when can we expect to spritz on a bit of Choo? The Jimmy Choo fragrance will reportedly launch at beauty counters worldwide in February with an eau de parfum, along with a body lotion and shower gel.
