Olivier Theyskens has just started his week off with a promotion. The ingenue designer has just been named artistic director for of Theory, which will at least double his creative responsibilities from creating the Theyskens’ Theory label, (which is launching for spring 2011), to being responsible for the entire Theory line. That's quite a change up!
As a veteran of working behind the scenes of such powerhouses as Rochas and Nina Ricci, Theysken's signature aesthetic of darkly romantic pieces will seemingly be a breath of fresh air for the Theory label, extending their influence to a whole new demographic. As for their old clientele, Theory's tried and true reputation of traditional contemporary wear is about to get a punched up with more fashion-forward, avant-garde pieces. Hopefully, the tried and true Theory customer will appreciate the change. Keep a lookout for Theyskens' personal touches when the first Theory collection designed by Theyskens rolls out for the fall 2011 season. And congrats to him!
