Simona Kogan for Second City Style Magazine
I'm a big fan of fashionistas like Mischa Barton, Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, Diane Kruger, Keira Knightley and Kate Bosworth and love to copy their celebrity style any chance I get. But if I had to pick one style star that stands out among the rest, it would have to be Olivia Palermo. Palermo may be merely a reality star socialite who's in the know with Joe Zee from Elle (thanks to her short-lived reality show The City), Marc Jacobs, and Zac Posen, but her style doesn't copy any one designer and instead has a mixture of high and low, vintage and modern that makes a bold statement while still looking totally put together and appropriate. How does she do it?
Olivia Palermo has the ability to mix all the latest trends and make a sharp statement while still looking like she woke up, rolled out of bed and was instantly well dressed. A lot of has to do with the pieces she picks out. Palermo has tried a little bit of everything from feathers to leather, color blocking to bold patterns and everything in between. She mixes tops from Topshop wth pants from Tibi and layers so appropriately, it's as if the clothes were made to be worn like that (and you know they weren't!) She can look sharp with a killer stone-colored blazer, but demure at the same time, pairing it with a pretty, romantic dress underneath. She's never afraid to try different shapes and lengths (instead of the same boring silhouette) and she always gets our attention in some way, whether it's a bold color choice or an interesting fabric, yet somehow never looks like she has a hair out of place.
