November 17, 2010 • Beauty

Good news for all the women out there (myself included) who always have a hard time finding the perfect foundation match on the standard spectrum. We're not all confined to a color swatch, after all.

Black Up, the French makeup-artist brand geared toward ethnic skin tones, will become available in the U.S. starting Dec. 1 via a brand new website, The collection will include 13 hues of foundation, 36 eye shadow colors and 26 lipstick shades.

Black-up-gloss “Black Up cosmetics fills the void that currently exists in the industry, offering women of color high-end cosmetics designed specifically with them in mind,” stated Lionel Durand, managing director of Black Up cosmetics. “Women in America have been ordering our products for years, so we are thrilled to be able to provide a quality solution for their cosmetic needs.” Black Up made its original debut in the U.S. in 2003, when it was launched at Macy’s Herald Square. The line, which now looks different and includes new products, remained there for a year and a half. We would like to welcome them back to the neighborhood!
