The Lace Trend At The 2010 American Music Awards

November 22, 2010 • Celebrity Style

The weather is turning colder and with that the trends are slowly changing from pretty pastels to sharp bold winter colors, but one thing I didn’t expect this season was the return of the lace trend.  With so many celebs wearing wool, neon, suede, and thick draping, this is one trend that I thought had said bye bye for now. But as fashion trends often do, black lace has returned with a vengeance, topping the dresses of three celebs at this year’s American Music Awards. Did they pull the trend off well?

According to the Red Carpet Fashion Awards blog, model Heidi Klum has been receiving a lot of flack for always wearing minidresses. Guess she took that criticism just a little too seriously and tried to go serious, but this dress just makes her look like an old school marm who happens to be wearing something see through. I agree that she looks a bit desperate.

I like professional dancer Julianne Hough‘s Old Hollywood approach with this lace number, which I think looks very Dita von Teese, but I’m not a fan of the sheer bottom half that drags on the floor. It would have looked better in one bold skin tight pattern like the top half all the way down.

Kudos to Kelly Osbourne for totally revamping her lifestyle; she now looks good in everything she wears! Still, I feel like this lace mini is more in tune with her true self. I really wasn’t feeling those white gloves or those little sailor outfits. Glad you’re finally figuring out who you really are, Kel!
