Well Chicago, we've held it off long enough. We've had a good run but, for Thanksgiving weekend, the forecast finally calls for snow. No more 60 degree days in November, and driving around with our windows down listening to Christmas music—winter is finally here. But luckily, so is Moncler (and just in time may we add!) The famous French outerwear company has landed in Chicago, adding to an impressive boutique repertoire of global cities including Paris, Milan, London, Hong Kong, New York and Aspen.
Located at 33 East Oak St., the Chicago outpost is a gem of a shopping space. The 240 sq. meter boutique features interiors designed by Gilles & Boissier, with each detail reflecting Moncler’s heritage: blue stone is used for walls and ceilings, and crystalline transparencies are paired with carved French wood paneling, to usher in a sense of modernism while still appreciating the company's traditionalism.
I got to experience the boutique's vibe firsthand at the ultra-chic grand opening party late last week. Inside, the store has a warm, personal atmosphere that is both metropolitan and ultra-contemporary. The products, which include mens, womens and accessories collections, Moncler V, Moncler S and Moncler Grenoble, were arranged around the space in an almost interactive display. Mannequins boasting head to toe ensembles draped themselves around shelves, stood regally in the corners and sat in glass cases, presiding over the crowd.
From the brand's signature puffer coats to their super furry trapper hats, Moncler provides the epitome of cold weather style, whether your holiday plans include skiing, snowboarding, or just braving the elements in Chicago. Season's Greetings!
