Don't let the diminuitive size of this blue tube fool you—it packs a powerful punch. While perusing the staggering collection of beauty bounty in the new Palmer House Merz Apothecary (of which my full write-up is in the works), I asked the expert minds behind the counter for a reliable lip lube that won't chafe, burn or disappear for my poor, prone-to-chapping pout. And from what seemed like millions of brightly colored tubes, tins and sticks, I was handed this: Jack Black's Intense Therapy Lip Balm in Natural Mint.
The store manager mentioned that it was a men's line as I grabbed eagerly for the tube and began instantly slathering it on, but it was hardly a deterrant. After all, dry lips are a problem that plagues us all during these long wintry months. And you know those gum commercials where a person pops in a stick of minty gum and all of a sudden their breath comes out in a cool, sweet-smelling cloud? well, that's exactly what I felt immediately—in one word, relief.
Since then I've been addicted, not because it burns off the top layer of my skin and I have to keep re-applying (I'm looking at you, Carmex), but because the tingling, cooling sensation is just better than anything else I've tried. And if the tiny .25 oz. size dismays you, the $7 pricetag won't. So scoop one up for each bag, coat pocket and glove compartment you may have. Come on, I just wrote three paragraphs about lip balm for goodness' sake! This stuff really works.
