Francesca's Pizzeria Napoletana recently re-opened with a new chef and a new name and I had the opportunity to meet Francesa's founder Scott Harris. I think It's a good move to make sure that Francesa's is in the name of this restaurant at 2423 N Clark, (originally opened as Nella Pizzeria Napolitana) because who doesn't like a Francesca's restaurant? This spot is great for casual dining, perfect to enjoy some pizza and wine, before or after shopping! This restaurant specializes in authentic Neopolitan-style pizza baked in a wood-burning oven imported from Naples.
Guests enjoy watching the pizza's being made by Chef Alfredo in an open and airy room.
Chef Alfredo Colle gave us the opportunity to make our own pizzas. It was fun to watch him flip the dough back and forth over his hand to transform a small disk into a 14 In pizza. We got to add our own fresh ingredients. Since I already tried the spice salami – a delicous house specialty – I made a pomodoro pie with fresh basil, fresh mozzarella and added artichokes …to remind me of pizzas that I had in Italy. Chef Alfredo also was making Calzone Lina, his famous dessert calzone filled with sliced banana, nutella and vanilla gelato! And other specialty that I have only had in Venice.

I was so filled up from pizzas, delicious salads and yummy arancini, or rice balls, which are something that I would never be able to make at home. I carried out my pizza!
My "delicious pizza" was handed to me in a stylishly nostalgic brown box and was gobbled up later that night!
