The new Jimmy Choo shoe ad campaign is out and it makes being bad look so good. The ad was captured Marilyn Minter, the famed photog behind the up close and personal series Green Pink Caviar, which featured models' mouths covered in a rock candy-like coating. Minter has made a name for herself creating graphically sensual moments in her photography. And though she often focuses on mouths and lips, she seemed to have no trouble adapting to feet as she staged the silver, crystal-studded shoes splashing through a gold puddle. Only she could make that action look provocative.
The footwear ad is Minter's first luxury campaign, made extra special since it is also the Jimmy Choo 15th anniversary. Choo founder Tamara Mellon handpicked the artist for the job, saying she is continuously surprised by Minter's work. “It’s amazing how down to earth Marilyn is and [yet she] produces such provocative, sexy, and inspiring images.” The crystals in the shoe, a traditional 15th anniversary gift, signify the occasion and the silver and gold tones contribute to the celebratory nature of the ad. And though we may not have considered going out and jumping in puddles in designer shoes on our birthdays before, we may just be so inclined to try it now.
