Breaking News: Target Close to Closing Deal of Taking Carson’s Old Spot

December 13, 2010 • Breaking News

Target is in the final stages of talks to take over the former Carson Pirie Scott buiding at 1 S. State Street. Target has been interested in the site for months now. Two sources said a lease is close to be completed, but details could not be learned.

There is also a planned Wal-Mart coming to the LakeView area, which would be the first Chicago site for the retailer.

Allen Joffe, principal at Baum Realty Group, said Target and Wal-Mart are both aggressively pursuing deals. “Target is sniffing around the dense urban core, everywhere from Hyde Park up to Lincoln Park,” he said. “Wal-Mart and Target are both trying to be adaptive and creative.”
