Well it's time for our weekly devotion of love to MAC Cosmetics and whatever new, kitschy-themed line they're about to unveil. This time, it's the heroine contrast to their popular Venomous Villains collection. And who better to define the role of heroine than the most iconic female superhero—Wonder Woman.
“Wonder Woman is one of the most enduring female characters in all of popular culture and the perfect choice for this collaboration,” said Karen McTier, executive vice president, domestic licensing and worldwide marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products who agreed to have the collaboration with the cosmetics company.
The eye-popping collection, which is purposefully designed to be oversized due to the cartoonish, comic book nature of the character, has been planned to be available for about six weeks, although reps for MAC are thinking it may sell out in about two. And who could resist a jumbo Lipglass for $19.50 or a larger than life compact duo for $24. The colors will mostly center around an eraly Seventies look, paying homage to Wonder Woman's heyday. Jennifer Balbier, senior vice president of product development for MAC Worldwide noted the look as, " [A] very nude contoured face with a hint of Pop-Art color. Most are new shades — but there are a lot of shades in our line that we would never, ever get rid of."
MAC is even planning a special pop-up store for the collection during its run. Although the line doesn’t hit shelves until mid-February, the store will open at 109 Prince Street in Manhattan after a press reception on Jan. 27. It will be open for the day, then reopened on Feb. 3 and will remain in place through mid-April, at which time it will become a new MAC store.
