Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and in his memory, we invite you to take some time to think about your fellow man. It's also January, which marks the one year anniversary of last year's devastating Haiti earthquake which prompted thousands of charity initiatives, one of which was Peace Love World. Created by Alina Villasante, Peace Love World is a fashion brand that strives to create hope and happiness to those in need.
In 2010, Peace Love World donated tens of thousands of dollars to children in need in Haiti through the Partners in Health (PIH) charity initiative. The brand created a ONE WORLD ONE LOVE tee to support the children of Haiti by donating 100% of the proceeds from the sales of the ONE WORLD t-shirt to PIH. After numerous trips to Haiti over the last year, Villasante knew the company had to step up its donations. “I’m so proud of the donations we made last year to help children in Haiti, but after seeing first hand the poverty in that country I knew we could do more,” Villasante said. “I saw how our clothes and school supplies made those children laugh and smile—we lifted their spirits…and they lifted ours. Giving back is the best feeling in the world.”
Now PLW is launching its "T's 4 Tots" program for 2011. With every t-shirt purchased online OR from the brand’s Coral Gables and Miami Beach store, Peace Love World will give one to a child in need. Peace Love World’s mission is to change the world one wearer at a time. The brand message is clear: make a daily intention to spread positive, powerful energy and change the world around us. Marting Luther King Jr. would be proud.
