Louis Vuitton’s Names Godfrey Gao First Asian Spokesmodel

January 20, 2011 • Fashion

Famed design house Louis Vuitton has broken the mold and named sultry Taiwanese-Canadian born actor Godfrey Gao the new face of their Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Gao is the first Asian male spokesmodel for the luxury brand.  A much deserved feat for Gao, as his established career in the Vancouver television market has led to him to be a known name to our Canadian cousins.

The decision to name Gao the front man of their line comes at the heels of the latest retail industry reports showing that Asian men spend more on the luxury brand than Asian females. The Louis Vuitton brand itself grew rapidly, pushing a 26% profit gain for parent company Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey (LVMH) in the first three quarters of 2010. As Asian models and culture continue to push their way west, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more Asian faces dominate our favorite magazine covers on the newsstands. Our congratulations go out to Godfrey Gao!
