Helena Bonham Carter on Breaking the Fashion Rules

January 28, 2011 • Celebrity Style

We all know that Ms. Carter has worked the red carpet for years with some major fashion misses. However, the Oscar-nominated actress insists on flaunting her off beat personal style on awards nights. In a sit down with People magazine, Carter speaks out on her eye catching fashion choices, “Sometimes I get it right and I sometimes I get it wrong," Carter, tells PEOPLE. “But fashion is all about having fun. I think fashion has been hijacked by the fashion industry creating rules on what one should wear and I feel like breaking the mold and seeing that the world won’t crumble.”

She received her most recent place on the “worst dressed” list for her Vivienne Westwood floral print dress with tulle and mismatched shoes worn to the 2011 Golden Globe Awards. Her fantasy-driven fashion choices are nothing that she feels the need to apologize for; the fun that she says she has dressing up outweighs the few unfavorable pictures of her in the magazines. We can’t wait to see what she chooses for the Oscars on February 27. In the mean time, we say hats off to Carter!
