Jean Paul Gaultier has always been a avant garde visionary when it comes to fashion. What I'm loving today is not necessarily a piece of his clothing (of which I do love immensely), but it's his couture punk look from his recent couture runway show.
Face painter Tom Pecheux made the hair the focus of the girls. Though keeping closely with classic Parisian makeup codes, the classic black liquid cat-eye and red lipstick keeps the looks simple while the mohawk mixed with cornrows and pin curls, with a few feather accents thrown in for good measure make it exciting.
The mohawks, created under the guidance of Odile Gilbert, makes punk look classy. “It’s a little punk, a little French cancan, but mostly it’s about elegance—and savoir-faire!”
