The three day long trade show for selected brands was held for the fourth year in a row at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport. Running from Jan 19-Jan 21, the focus this year was a plethora of pant options that we can expect for Fall/Winter 2011. Rolled-up chinos in suede, velvet, corduroy and cargo pants along with plaid button-downs, heavy knits and fur-lined parkas were highlighted as the key trends for this year. With the jean market becoming more saturated every season and leggings becoming the less than desirable option (they’ve been done to death!), the new go-tos are looking to be lush fabrics, textures and menswear inspired bottoms.

7 For All Mankind
Colors that stood out for the season were khaki, olive green, and gray; along with rusted reds, and off beat fabric finishes. Among those showing at Bread & Butter this year were U.K. based label, Monkee Genes, Guess, True Religion (debuting three new lines: Torque, Phantom and Vintage), Levi, Turkish label Cross, and G-Star. With the economy expected to slowly continue to recover in 2011, the focus of many non denim pieces in each collection is expected to excite buyers and consumers alike for a dynamic switch in fall/winter basics. And as denim will always be a staple in all of our wardrobes, we welcome all of the fresh new options that have been gracing the runways.
