Trailer for Dressed.
This trailer had me in tears in the first thirty seconds. Dressed is a documentary that follows Nary Manivong around as he prepares for his solo collection for New York Fashion Week and his compelling tale about his broken past. Not only was I grieving over the fact of how brutal the fashion industry can be to a new designer, but also for Nary Manivong childhood, which was filled with abandonment, homelessness, and poverty. Words that still haunt him into adulthood.
Many people I feel could fall apart if such tragedy hit them in such an early age but the beautiful thing about Nary is that he doesn't let those things faze him. He doesn't let them become excuses for why his life became a wasteland. Instead, he educated himself in the art of fashion design, works like a mad man, and offers up gratitude for everyday he gets to perfect his craft.
I really can't wait to see this film and I'm already rooting for him even though I hoping that the flick hits Chicago theaters soon, but you can already catch this flick in New York, Philadelphia, and Columbus. I can already tell that this insider view on this designer's journey will change your perception on the fashion industry. Not only that, but also about finding something your passionate about and giving it your all – no matter what you may have to face in your past, present, or future.
