So the news on everyone's lips today is if "Gossip Girl" star, Blake Lively, will be the one to fill Carie Bradshaw's very stylish shoes in the 'Sex and the City' prequel, "The Carrie Diaries".
The media is already in a frenzy about this, which is publicity for the move the studios couldn't buy. And we have to admit, even after the wretched epic that was 'SATC2", we'd be the first on Fandango to see this probably equally ridiculous prequel.
And while lively seems not the craziest choice (her character Serena's style on "Gossip Girl" has been compared to Bradshaw's many a time), it may be a stretch for her to channel the true essence of the Carrie we all know and love.
Elle.com wonders if Lively would be able to pull off a teenage Carrie, before the Blahniks and Big, or if she would lack the breezy, natural wit that becomes the essence of the Bradshaw character core. Yet, Lively is a darling of Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour and is about to unveil her first campaign for Chanel—feats Bradshaw herself would be proud to call her own.
We're not sure what to make of all this yet, the jury is still out. We'll report more details on the matter as they're revealed. But what do you think, dear readers? Would Lively would make a solid representation of Bradshaw? Who anyone else do it better? Or should they pull the plug on the whole project? Let us know what you think!
