Summary: Who else better than to end Valentine's Day on than the queen of sparkles herself, Betsey Johnson?! Combining all types of crazy plaid, leopard and zebra prints (most all in one outfit!), each piece brought the fun and the glamour. The show had the usual Betsey flair, full of velvets, tulle, sequins and furs that we've come to expect. Johnson showed both her regular "Black Tag" collection and a new lower priced line, " Pink Patch", full of the same sequins and crazy neon city light colors of the Black Tag line.
Even the makeup was "tongue-in-cheek, in your face" fun. Models hit the runway with bold violet eyeshadow, red lips and matching blunt bobs and spray-painted lace designs around their temples. This looks like something that is sure to be a unique trend in the upcoming fall.
At the end of the show, we were all privileged to a special treat. During her runway walk, Betsey came out and danced with a special audience member… no other than stylist Patricia Field! They danced to "Don't Want No Short Short Man". Models then walked the runway with huge flowers in their hands with a small crystal spider inside. Atop of their crowns, they donned a a heart headband that displayed their affection for the crowd noting that "I f*cking love you". And to end the show, Betsey performed her signature showstopping cartwheel and took her bow. Of course, unless you live in Candyland, nothing is for everyday wear… but it's nice to imagine that you could.
