Backstage at Toni Francesc Fall 2011, I was excited to meet with with the Mehron Cosmetics team, as I am one of their biggest fans of their Celebre HD Foundation. I can not speak enough about this foundation, as I have reviewed it and use it almost everyday. So it was with great anticipation at Toni Francesc, to meet some of the artists behind the brand, and lead artist Jacqueline.
As I drooled over the selections of Mehron Palettes, from foundations, to creams and blushes, I grabbed a moment with Mehron's Key Artist Jacqueline Mgido, to learn about her inspiration for the Toni Francesc collection. As the team was all dressed in black, Jacqueline Mgido, with her quiet voice, said "I was inpired by the mythical Phoenix Bird, which means, GARUDÀ bird in spanish, it has great mystery and imagination and every 50 years the bird kills itself, by going into fire, and comes out in different colors". As she spoke, I could tell she was in love with mythology, and the energy it creates. She wanted to create that for Toni Francesc, and wanted to give models a 'bird' type of look.
Mgido used lots of bright reds lipstick by Mehron, and used contour creams for the skin. She then created very sharp eyes by darkening with black shadow and using amazing lashes to create a wing-like effect. She said the key product was the Celebre Foundation for the skin, as it would be very clean and flawless.
For Hair, Clyde from Salerm Cosmetics was the lead, and he explained as well that the inspiration was the Phoenix Bird, and wanted the opening model of the show to be the inspiration of the bird, and have the a disheveled, deconstructed and not perfect look to her hair; but big and wavy. He then said the other models will have 'sophisticated, messy updos' with an off-center side part, and wave. The hair was pushed to the face, to mimic the bird. One of the key products used used before applying hot tools to the hair was the Salerm Keratin Shot, which is designed to help straighten the hair while rejuvenating and softening it.
The makeup was stunning as the created look did give us a mystery, but a beautiful alluring mystery.
