Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NY Fall ’11. Black and Bold with Jewel Tones Yoana Baraschi Backstage

February 14, 2011 • Magazine

At Yoana Baraschi, I was excited to see that one of my favorite makeup artists, Lottie for Makeup Forever would be keying. She does exceptional work, so I knew the look for Yoana Baraschi would be nothing but spectacular. I arrived backstage early so I patiently waited to be let back. I then had time to speak with another fellow artist who was working with the Makeup Forever team.

Once I got the okay, I didn't want to waste anytime getting the inspiration for the makeup and hair looks so I after a few pictures I was directed to Lottie. She gave me the inspiration for the makeup look, " I wanted to complement the designer's bold, glossy, jewel toned collection;in that she has lot's of black, but there is a lot of color, so I decided on a two-toned glossy eye". Lottie said she used 2 different color combinations, using Make Up For Ever Flash Colors (my fave).

For skin, they used Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, mixed in with a beautiful highlighter called 'Uplight'. It's is a beautiful cream color that can be applied anywhere, but for this show it was applied to the temples, jawbone, and down the bridge of the nose. It gave the skin a beautiful healthy glow.

For Hair Heather with Cutler Salon, said the designer was inspired by Olive Oil; but wanted more wave with an off center part; She wanted it loose and airy, but also wanted the bun to stick out. When asked how she made it stick out so far, she said "Lot's of twisting, and lot's of pins".

Get the Look:

For Complexion & Cheeks: Lottie kept the complexion bare with MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Invisible cover Foundation and a little 'Uplight' to add highlights to the skin. Sculpting Blush #20 was used for a light flush.
