DVF Apologizes For Breaking Her Own Rules

15 year-old Hailey Clauson, DVF Fall '11

She's had a rough year! First a terrible skiing accident and now this? According to WWD, the designer and president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Diane von Furstenberg unknowingly broke one of the CFDA rules; allowing a model under 16 walk the runway. Apparently Von Furstenberg just discovered one of the models on her own fall runway, Hailey Clauson, was only 15.

So yesterday she sent out a letter via e-mail to CFDA members to express her dismay and apologize.

“One of the guidelines, as you know, is not to hire models under 16 in addition to making sure that all of them are properly fed. Well, it is to my horror, that I discovered last Friday that in spite of me repeating that to my production and casting people, one girl slipped through the cracks. One girl who will be 16 in March walked my show last week!”

Looks like someone at her casting agency is in serious trouble. Now Diane Von Furstenberg is obviously rethinking casting procedure. Casting people need to be demanding ID's…don't you think? Not only that, Hailey Clauson also walked in Oscar de la Renta and DKNY. Looks like others missed the memo too.
