Blake Lively and Chanel
We're all still reeling from this morning's news that Christian Dior's couturier John Galliano has been fired from the French fashion house after allegations that he made racist and anti-Semitic remarks. But like it or not, the show must go on. The timing of this scandal could not have been worse for Galliano, as his eponymous label is about to present its Fall' 11 collection this weekend as part of Paris Fashion Week. Reps from the John Galliano label have confirmed that the show will remain scheduled for its 5 p.m. slot this Sunday in Paris but the elephant in the room is, will Galliano make a personal appearance or not?
Other buzz-worthy attendees include Blake Lively, the newest face of Chanel, who reportedly said she won't be attending the Chanel Fall' 11 show next week. When asked why, a source said she "thinks it’s tacky for a celebrity like herself to attend the show." Instead, she'll host a dinner during Paris Fashion Week in honor of the label's new Mademoiselle handbag line, which she is the face of. Funny, it seems much more tacky to not show up to support a label that you are an ambassador for. And does that then make the celebrities who do choose to show up tacky as well? Oh Blake, let your publicist speak for you in the future.
