With spring on it’s way, some of us have started our spring cleaning, got our gym memberships back and scheduled our salon appointments. For me it’s always the time to get my face back to it’s pre-winter radiance. My skin always faces the biggest challenges over the winter months due to breakouts from food allergies, dry skin from the air, and splotchy skin from product over-use. I know we have all had our share of the winter blues, but we can revive and renew our skin with some great treatment masks that will bring it back to life.
You can’t go wrong with the good ‘ole faithful Queen Helen Mint Julep Mask. This was one of the first masks I ever used as a teenager when I first entered my ‘girly’ stage.  For less than $5 this mask does everything a mask is suppose to do. It gives me the ‘tingly’ feel we all think we need in order to know it’s working and it also tightens and cleanses.  You can’t beat Queen Helen’s price and effectiveness if you want a great mud mask.
I first discovered Astara Blue Flame Purifying Mask as I was getting a facial at a spa in Virginia, and all I can say is that this mask is amazing. With  key ingredients such as Tea Tree Oil, Grapefruit Peel Oil, Bergamot Fruit Oil, Mandarin Orange, Lavender, Vitamin E, Sage, Rosemary and Lemongrass it is one of the best detoxifying masks I have every tried. Not only is it refreshing and smells heavenly, but it’s great for oily skin and perfect as a spot treatment. You may look like a dotted zombie by morning, but it works!
Some nights, I am lazy and dread slathering anything on, let alone doing a treatment. However, those are the nights my skin needs it most and I always grab for the best remedy. For me it is SK II’s Facial Treatment Mask. It’s like heaven in a mask. This mask is as refreshing as a cold bottle of water on a 100 degree day, it’s the ultimate in age fighting, hydration and rejuvenation for your skin and the treatments are super easy to apply. I warn you – yes, this product is expensive – but worth every penny!
I always love an inexpensive product that not only appeals to my wallet, but also delivers. No need to always splurge for high end when there are comparable drugstore brands that work just as well. When I discovered one of my favorite skincare lines for face, had a firming mask, I knew I had to give it a try. St. Ives Mineral Clay Firming Mask is not only one of the best masks for sensitive skin, but great for oily skin as well. This award-winning mask deep cleans, firms and visibly tightens your skin.
Bliss! What can I say…I love pretty much every Bliss product I try and Bliss Steep Clean is no exception. This is another favorite mask when I want an extensive and deep cleanse. This ‘facial in a bottle’ works best for oily skin, but perfect for anyone who wants a deep clean. It takes a little science to use the cleanser, but it’s very effective. To activate the skin cleaning enzymes you have to dispense two separate compounds, the yellow + blue = ‘pore’-fect skin, and mix them together. It will turn into green goodness and has to be left on the skin for 15 minutes. But you won’t be disappointed. The mask feels like it is pulling every bit of dirty grime from the inner most layers of your skin.

I saved one of the best for last, as if I haven’t already given you a reason to try these wonderful masks. This one contains one of the most natural ingredients you can find and will give you the ultimate in cleansing. It has been used for thousands of years, and even by Cleopatra, who was known for her beauty. Indian Healing Clay is a pure bentonite clay derived from ancient riverbed volcanic ash, that was historically used by American Indians for purification and healing. Mixed with part water to make a paste, it is applied to the face and left on for up to 20 minutes. When the clay dries it pulls out every bit of moisture and draws in water up to triple its weight, so when it dries on your face it feels like your face is literally caving in. It is truly a miracle product, and for eight dollars you can’t beat it.
