Alexis Bittar, world famous jewelry designer, was on hand at Saks Fifth Avenue in Chicago to present a special exclusive assortment of his designs unavailable in stores. He was also there to assist patrons pick out the perfect piece for themselves. Second City Style got a quick minute between helping customers and signing autographs to talk to him about his showcase.
One can tell that there are several prominent influences within the pieces. "This collection leans more towards the 'fantasy garden'," Bittar told me about the current selection. The pieces with semi-precious stones, flowers and butterflies show how the glamour still shines through with just a light touch. There is also a combination of the essence of fashion icon Grace Jones and a bit of an African tribal slant.
Bittar also explained how he's traveled through Africa and Ethiopia and their influence on this collection. "Those areas are some of the most interesting to discover. There's so much there," Bittar explained. It definitely shows in this collection, especially with the precious stone encrusted collars.
So, what should the public be looking for next from Bittar? "Well for this Fall, it'll be darker, kind of Tim Burton-ish," Bittar told me. "Expect 'old world luxury' and still very glamorous".
Before I parted, Alexis was even nice enough to pick out a special pair of earrings just for me! You can find out more about Bittar and his designs at AlexisBittar.com!
