It's a sad day at luxe evening wear house Azzaro since the announcement was made that creative director Vanessa Seward is stepping down. Credited as having repositioned the label back on the fashion map, Seward will be departing the label in what WWD called "an amicable parting", leaving behind a stable financial platform for the company to grow.
Seward joined the company in 2002 as first assistant to the founding designer, Loris Azzaro. Following his death a year later, Seward was named creative director, revamping its signature evening wear and creating new ideas, including such iconic styles as the Three Rings dress. Previous creative jobs included positions at Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.
Now known for their feminine, curve-hugging designs and with a celebrity clientele that includes Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz, Seward helped establish Azzaro as a glamorous red carpet go-to. Azzaro will reportedly name Seward’s successor in the next month and clearly, she's left behind big shoes to fill.
