Stella's got a brand new bag

The Royal Wedding? That was SO two weeks ago. The Brits have moved on to the next big things in fashion and luckily, there’s a few tasty tidbits to discuss! For one, beloved British designer Stella McCartney has been tapped by Adidas to be the company’s official creative director for the British Olympic team during the 2012 London Summer Games. So all the British athletes will be wearing Stella McCartney originals, lucky them. Adidas senior vice president Rolf Reinschmidt said Friday, “She is even overseeing performance wear and what the athletes will wear around the Olympic Village.” Cheers to the design virtuoso and mother of four!

In other, more retail-based news, Swedish fast fashion chain H&M has picked London department store Selfridges for their first store-within-a-store concept. The mini boutique will be opened within Selfridges’ ‘Spirit’ area, close by other street-chic concessions including Topshop, American Apparel, All Saints, and Oasis and will feature H&M summer trends in women’s wear and accessories at their regular price point. The Swedish chain seems to have a particular fondness for the Brits since in addition to the new Selfridges boutique, H&M also recently two new UK stores in one week! Which, if you think about it, is really just as well since the Royal Wedding coverage has ended, most of Britain will now have an enormous amount of time on their hands.
