If you think your handbag collection may need a little perking up by fall, we’ve got the best possible solution. Chanel has announced the launch of their newest line of handbags, Chanel Boy, which will be available for Fall 2011. Based on a hunting cartridge style originally carried by Coco Chanel herself, the new Chanel Boy bags were designed to channel the signature sense of androgyny the designer was known for.

“Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel. She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life, which, incidentally, explains why the new bag is called the Boy Chanel,” Karl Lagerfeld explained on his idea to retool the style/.  The boxy bags boast a heavy gold chain strap, chunky gold closure and an embossed logo on the top flap of each style The line consists of red, grey, black and ivory clutches, purses, and totes—each crafted in a luxe glazed calfskin. Range from $2500 to $4300, the Chanel Boy bags will hit Chanel boutiques in September.
