Hussein Chalayan’s fragrance will represent a journey, according to the designer. The first ever scent, called Airborne, will be a unisex fragrance meant to manifest Chalayan’s pilgrimage from Cyprus to London (that, and Airborne was also the name of Chalayan’s fall-winter 2007 collection). Produced by Comme des Garçons, the elixir includes exotic notes of Tunisian neroli, lemon from Syracuse, bergamot, lentiscus from Cyprus, juniper berry, incense, musk and cedarwood.
The frosted glass of the bottle depicts etched cityscapes to reinforce the traveling man’s theme. Chalayan plans to introduce the Airborne London’s Dover Street Market in July, which will be followed by various markets throughout the summer. A 50-ml. eau de toilette spray will retail for $95.
