Though the partnership between Gucci and UNICEF is now entering its seventh consecutive year, the momentum between the Italian luxury brand and the charitable organization shows no sign of slowing down. For 2011, Gucci’s creative head, Frida Giannini, chose to keep a good thing going by updating last year’s bestselling “Gucci for UNICEF” Sukey bag.
Launched last year to incredible acclaim, the original “Gucci for UNICEF” Sukey bag was offered in a sleek gray with the house’s classic Diamante print. This year’s version boasts a rich chocolate brown in the same motif and benefiting the same important cause—25 percent of the proceeds 25 percent of the $1,430 retail price for each bag will go to support UNICEF’s “Schools for Africa” initiative, aimed at providing children with access to quality education.
The newest version will also feature soft ruching and a detachable leather charm with the interlocking GG logo. The “Gucci for UNICEF” Sukey bag will launch on June 15 in Gucci stores in more than 20 countries, as well as on Gucci.com, and will remain available until Feb. 28, 2012.
