It’s good news today for luxury eyewear lovers. WWD has reported that London-based Alexander McQueen and Italy’s Safilo Group have renewed their worldwide eyewear license agreement until the end of 2015, having been partners since 2002.
Safilo’s roster of designer brands includes Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta, as well as such names as Dior, Max Mara and Tommy Hilfiger.
In other eyewear news, Valentino SpA has decided to leave Safilo Group after a 13-year partnership, creating a new license with Marchon Eyewear Inc. for the production and distribution of its eyewear collection. The first collection of sunglasses and prescription frames will debut around in January 2012, taking its cues from the fabrics, colors, textures and prints of Valentino’s ready-to-wear collections and accessories.
Marchon’s roster of brand include Calvin Klein, Coach, Diane von Furstenberg, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Jil Sander, Karl Lagerfeld, Michael Kors, Nike and Salvatore Ferragamo.
With the renewal of these licenses, fans of both labels’ eyewear collections can look forward to new styles for at least four more years!
