Topshop is getting glitzier and fancier by the minute! The British-based retailer is riding the momentum of their multiple flagship openings in North America by introducing a new collection of eveningwear, aptly named Dress Up. Citing a “whole in the market for all our customers”, owner Sir Philip Green told WWD the retailer’s evening wear had been long overdue for an extra oomph. And now, with a Las Vegas flagship in the works for next March, Dress Up is arriving at just the right time. “Dress Up, is just that: very elaborate, embellished pieces in fine silks and satin with beading and sequins,” Green noted.
So far the images of the collection seem Vegas-like to a tee. Bedazzled frocks with shimmying fringe, candy-colored gowns and a sexy sequined number speckled with black leopard spot—oh my! We’re hoping more toned down options will also be available, yet we trust Sir Philip to deliver. He added, “When we were figuring out something new to introduce, [we found] there was something our customer was missing, a cocktail dress at a $120 price point or a long silk gown you could wear to a wedding for $350.”
So savvy Chicago shoppers now have a new reason to get excited for the new Topshop flagship, located at 830 North Michigan Ave. Other news about the store is that there will reportedly be two entrances to the store, one on North Michigan Avenue and another on Pearson Street. AND 100 exclusive pieces are being designed specifically for the Chicago store, including two suits, one in black lace and the other in yellow and black. Combine that with the new Dress Up collection and we can hardly wait until those Michigan Avenue (and Pearson Street) doors to open!
