Every wanted to know what it feels like to be in the New York Fashion Week tents? The flurry, the bustle, the … fashion overload?
Premiering in New York this weekend, a documentary chronicling the history and evolution of New York Fashion Week aptly named the The Tents will cover the creation of an organized fashion week by the CFDA back in 1993 to the transition of ownership to IMG to present day.
The movie will document the history of the now historic fashion event. From its humble beginnings in 1993 to the circus like atmosphere it has become, it’s almost like being there in the thick of it all. It will also include interviews from some of the world’s top fashion designers and front-row fixtures, including Issac Mizrahi, Nina Garcia, Suzy Menkes, Donna Karan and Zac Posen. “With a diverse range of voices, we take the audience on an exciting journey through NY fashion history. The term “The Tents” now resonates as a metaphor for the fashion show venue itself as well as the overall fashion week experience,” said director of The Tents James Belzer.
If you are in New York on Saturday night, you can check out a preview of the film ahead of its wider release this September. The Tents will debut at NewFest, the New York LGBT Festival on July 23 at 6 PM at the SVA Theater.
