Long has the name Kate Spade been synonymous with bright colors, popping prints and an undisputed feminine aesthetic. Yet never before has the grown-up girlish brand ventured into the beauty arena, outside of a fragrance. Now, Kate Spade is putting their money where their pout is with a capsule collection of vibrant-colored lipsticks, toting quite the tongue-twisting name.
Supercalifragilipstick, is a new Kate Spade line of lip color with the feel of a lipstick-lip gloss hybrid. The brand created the collection with Lipstick Queen founder Poppy King, who noted the formula was designed to offer even coverage and long-wearing color with a sheer, moisturizing feel.
The line will come in four shades, including: Pop Art Pink, a light pink; Bashful Blush, a sheer nude; Fuchsia Fete, a sheer fuchsia, and Adventurous Red, a sheer red. Each was created with microfine pigments, silk powders, shea butter and coconut oil. “The formula holds various polymers that have a high reflective index and allow for maximum shine with hours of wear,” explained King. The lipsticks will retail for $24 each.
In addition to the makeup itself, the collection will also feature a complementary collection of makeup cases ranging in price from $60 to $145; compacts for $28; a lipstick-themed scarf, $155, and a lipstick journal, $65. The entire Supercalifragilipstick line will be available at Kate Spade New York outposts and on katespade.com.
