Every time Topshop owner Sir Philip Green has lunch with a celebrity, media outlets explode in speculation on whether or not a design collaboration is in the works. Hopefully, this morning’s news will put some frantic Topshop fans’ anticipation to rest. The British retailer has announced a fall collaboration with eco-conscious wool company Izzy Lane on a capsule collection of coats. Izzy Lane plans to produce three styles of higher end coats and—get this!—the coats will be making their debut in September at Topshop’s second U.S. store in none other than Sweet Home Chicago!
The three limited edition coats will range in price from $400 for a collarless beige wool coat with faux leather trim to $510 for a feminine tweed skirted coat with detachable black faux-fur collar. Yet Topshop chose Izzy Lane for more reasons than their design style. “We are always looking for new ethical manufacturers and fabrics to work with,” said Topshop designer director Jacqui Markham. Izzy Lane is a standout example of such a company, providing a home for hundreds of sheep that otherwise would have been slaughtered. “Izzy Lane wool is perfect for those with a love of luxury as well as a social conscience.” Roughly 150 pieces of each style will be produced and carried first at Topshop in Chicago and then at its U.K. stores.
