Well, the dog days of summer have just begun, but that doesn’t “Dog Days Are Over” singer and Florence and the Machine frontwoman Florence Welch is staying out of the action. Reports have been buzzing since yesterday that the redheaded siren is currently working on her own clothing line for Topshop, along with her stylist, Aldene Johnson. “Florence wants it to reflect her eclectic, quirky style,” a source told the Glamour UK. “She has thousands of unique pieces, everything from vintage gowns to garments she’s been given by Karl Lagerfeld, and would love to work with Aldene to create a line inspired by her wardrobe, like Kate Moss did.”
So if the rumors turn out to be true, how much of her romanticized, Renaissance-like style and preference for long lengths and voluminous shapes be translated into everyday wear? Welch has worked with the British retailer before, who created a number of stage costumes for her back in 2009. Since then, she’s been tapped as a style muse to both Karl Lagerfeld and Gucci. So we’re thinking she may be adept in handling the design reigns, if if not a little off-kilter. We’ll just have to wait and see!
