Henri Bendel’s has long been a New York staple to the well heeled as well as an iconic urban landmark. Bendel’s was the first to introduce Coco Chanel to the U.S. and the first store to stage a fashion show in New York City. Since 1895, the store has provided the fashion forward with those signature brown and white striped shopping bags and access to the latest and greatest in accessories and gifts. The Accessories Council even honored Henri Bendel as The Retailer of the Year for 2010.
The chic shopping destination is coming back to Chicago after leaving the magnificent mile 13 years ago. “We’re excited to be back in Chicago,” said Daniela Maron, representative for the New York-based retailer. “We hear quite frequently how we’re missed.”
Set to open in November, the luxurious 2134-square-foot shopping environment will be located in Chicago’s Water Tower Place home to both Macy’s and The American Girl Place. This new addition will surely make the Michigan Avenue location a hotspot for both local and visiting shoppers.
Water Tower is also expecting more updates with a new Free People store and a Victoria Secret Pink store fully dedicated to the younger line. Get your Christmas lists out and ready because all the renovations and additions are scheduled to be completed in time for the holiday season. Happy Shopping!
