Giambattista Valli Collaborates with Macy’s
As the fourth designer chosen for the Impulse Only at Macy’s designer collaboration, Giambattista Valli will create a holiday capsule collection, which will debut in 225 Macy’s stores and online at Macys.com on October 25. Known for his dramatic creations and exaggerated flourishes such as layers of tulle, feathers, enormous bows and wild mixes of animal prints, Valli’s collection for Macy’s will embody similar themes, including feminine fabrics, bold prints and riotous color, lace, tweed, brocade, fake fur and point d’esprit tulle. The collection’s cocktail dresses, skirts, blouses, lightweight jackets, edgy pants and graphic T-shirts mainly have a red and black palette infused with gold, gray and fuchsia. Items are priced from $50 to $150.

Will Lady Gaga’s Sister (aka “Baby Gaga”) Design Theater Costumes?
Natali Germanotta, better known as sibling to pop phenom Lady Gaga, is said to be in the running to design costumes for a new off-Broadway show “Simon Says” that will make its debut this fall in New York. “Baby Gaga,” had her fifteen minutes, uh, seconds, in a cameo wearing shades in “Telephone,” the music video her sister made with Beyoncé. The 19-year-old has also interned for Allison Parris and pitched in backstage at the designer’s fall 2010 show. Parris said of her former intern, “Natali has an edgier sense of style like her sister. Initially when she went to the Grammys a few years ago, she wore one of our little lace trapeze dresses, but she styled it up with leather and hardware. She is so nice and so easy to work with. She is such a great girl.” If Germanotta nabs the spot and her sense of design is anything akin to her sister’s, this promises to be quite a show.
Michael Kors Ties the Knot
A big, warm-hearted congratulations to American design legend and Project Runway judge Michael Kors (whose company was recently valued at over a billion dollars!) for marrying his longtime partner Lance Le Pere on Tuesday in Southampton, N.Y. Southampton Mayor Mark Epley officiated in a private ceremony on Dune Beach (not too costumey). “To marry someone as wonderful and special to me as Lance barefoot on a glorious beach is more than I could have dreamed of,” Kors said. For once, he’s not underwhelmed!
