Tommy Hilfiger Joins MLK Memorial
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial will be unveiled Sunday on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in a dedication co-chaired by The Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation and chaired by General Motors Co. The Hilfiger Foundation has been a key sponsor of the project for more than 10 years with fund-raising, donations and executive involvement. The company has donated $6.25 million, and raised an additional $2 million for the MLK Memorial, which is located near the Jefferson and Washington Memorials.
“I am deeply honored to be a part of this momentous occasion,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “To see the memorial built and celebrated is a remarkable milestone for all those who continue to advocate Dr. King’s universal message of humanity and equality. Our company has had the exceptional opportunity to work with the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Monument Project Foundation for over 10 years; it is a privilege and a responsibility that we take great pride in.”
Kim Kardashian’s Big Payday?
Kim Kardashian‘s People cover might be worth $1.5 million but the cover might not be as grand as everyone is making it out to be. The photos will break on people.com Wednesday and on newsstands in New York and Los Angeles the same day. “The deal was complicated because of a preexisting deal with E!, so the photos are not quite as exclusive as what People is claiming,” said Rob Shuter, Naughty but Nice columnist for AOL Huffpost Celebrity. “We’ve already seen the dress, and E! has released a video clip.”
People ran Kardashian’s engagement photos back in June, along with a story, and sources said the cover was a disappointment. The Time Inc. title reportedly paid $300,000 for the photos and story, but the issue had single-copy sales of 1,143,124, slightly below the six-month average of 1,153,774. During that same month, covers featuring Caylee Anthony and Kate Middleton did better for People on the newsstand.
