Zac Posen and Supima are both coming to NY Fashion Week and Randy Kabat starts at Rue La La

Zac Posen Returns to Fashion Week

Even though SCS already saw Zac Posen during Fashion Week, Posen has decided that he will actually hold a show for Spring 2012 in New York. The show will take place on Sept. 11 at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall. “Paris is wonderful but it just feels like the right time to show in New York,” Zac Posen said. Can’t wait to see him (again)!

Supima Competition Coming to Fashion Week Too!

Supima is coming back for its fourth-annual Supima Design Competition, staking a claim on the official New York Fashion Week calendar with a show at Lincoln Center on Sept. 8. The cotton brand has also recruited a panel of industry talent to judge the runway show, which features the designs of eight students from FIT, Pratt, RISD and Savannah College of Art and Design, who will compete for a $10,000 cash prize. This year’s judges include Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, founder of Gilt Group; Charlotte Ronson; Coco Rocha; Kevin Harter, vice president of men’s fashion for Bloomingdale’s, and Nicole Miller.

Randy Kabat at Rue La La

A year after Randy Kabat left her post as executive vice president of marketing and advertising at Prada USA Corp., she has landed at Rue La La as senior vice president of brand partner marketing. She took the interim to “recharge and refresh and think about what was next professionally,” said Kabat, who is reporting to chief merchandising officer Ira Melnitsky in Rue La La’s New York office.

“When I was looking at the landscape and where the action is really happening and where the innovators are in retail — and changing the way people think about shopping — it’s all happening in this digital space and the flash sale space,” said Kabat.
