We know there are days that you sit around reminiscing about the good old days of the high life, drinking Bolly all day and yelling obscenities in a British accent.
Absolutely Fabulous, the cult British comedy about two middle-aged women living the high life in London, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a trio of brand new episodes. After years of speculation about “Ab Fab’s” eventual return (the most recent episodes premiered in 2004), the new episodes were given the go-ahead earlier this year after securing funding from BBC America and Logo. The new episodes, already filming in London, are due to air in the US over the course of next year beginning in January.
The series will star all of the original characters including Jennifer Saunders (who also created and pens the series) and Joanna Lumley as PR guru/fashion victim Edina Monsoon and fashion magazine editor Patsy Stone respectively.
“We’d been talking to them since the end of last year” about reviving the series, says Marc Leonard, a senior vice president of Logo. “It wasn’t so much about keeping plans secret as it was that “we just didn’t know if it’d be real,” he says. “Part of the problem was getting Jennifer working on it — and getting that cast together is a challenge. Now, “they’ve got everybody. They’re also lining up some celebrity cameos, and the names they’ve been throwing around have been really interesting,” he hints, although he declined to reveal any specific names.
Cannot wait to see what hi-jinks and shenanigans Eddie and Patsy can get into now!
