Paz de la Huerta Joins Agent Provocateur
Agent Provocateur, the British lingerie label, has picked actress Paz de la Huerta to appear in a series of short films directed by Johan Renck. The films will be shown on Agent Provocateur’s Web site, and Renck has also shot the accompanying stills campaign. In the images, De la Huerta plays on her risqué “It” girl persona, cheekily flashing her Agent Provocateur lingerie as she’s pursued by the paparazzi.
“We always try and choose girls that are true Agent Provocateurs, and she definitely is AP through and through,” said Sarah Shotton, the brand’s creative director. “She’s got an amazing body and she’s naturally very, very sexy… We wanted [the campaign] to be a little more riskier in a way. I thought, Why don’t we do a campaign that celebrates that you’re wearing Agent Provocateur…a guide to how to strategically flash your lingerie?”
FNO to be a Star-Studded Event
Expect to see some big stars at Fashion’s Night Out in New York this year. Giorgio Armani is hosting a conversation with Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett about their new Broadway play “The Mountaintop” at the Madison Avenue store; a few blocks down, Seth Meyers of “Saturday Night Live” will bartend at the men’s shop within Coach’s Madison Avenue flagship, and Rose Byrne will also host a special cocktail party at Bottega Veneta on Fifth Avenue. Leighton Meester will also be out with her band Check in the Dark for a performance at Tiffany’s & Co. on Fifth Avenue and usher in the company’s new Era collection.
J Brand Gets Sporty
For the first time in its six-year history, the premium denim label J Brand is moving beyond jeans to offer 140 sportswear pieces beginning next spring. J Brand is aiming to sell its new collection alongside Helmut Lang, Rag & Bone, Isabel Marant and Carven on the retail floor. Arnie Gale, J Brand’s president of sales, said that only 60 of its 2,500 current retail doors will carry the line in the first season. Retailers will get a peek at the collection on Sept. 7, when J Brand will hold sales meetings in the Meatpacking District around the start of New York Fashion Week.
“It was all about timing — the distribution, the growth of the brand, the brand recognition in the marketplace,” said J Brand chief executive officer Jeff Rudes. “So when we did launch ready-to-wear, our customer base was ready for it.”
