Summary: It was no secret that designer Tracy Reese had warm weather on her mind when creating the Spring 2012 collection. Reese’s intention for the latest runway line was to achieve a feminine yet relaxed look. This undoubtedly worked with the juxtaposition of romance and sport (athleticism seems to be an ongoing trend this season!)
Reese stayed true to her roots by incorporating soft, voluminous styles in subtle, pretty hues. Those flirty silhouettes and colors were offset by vibrantly lean and refined shapes (such as the khaki anorak and buttercup floral top combo). Of course it wouldn’t be spring without warm weather accessories, like the sun shielding parasols in neon and prints, retro one-piece swimsuits and oversized structured hats. Cinching at the waist, vintage lingerie, T-length hems and soft-curled hair seemed like an homage to the 50’s; yet another feminine touch I love seeing in Tracy Reese.
My personal favorites include the lingerie-inspired pieces, such as the black lace spliced frock with coral peek-a-boo undergarments. Despite being unsure of its practicality, I’m also a little obsessed with the finale’s tiered lace gown. All in all, Reese’s latest will take you from botanical garden party to a day at the beach, thus making the collection a hit for spring!
